Free exhibit admission for Scouts


Bring your scout group to the Museum to do fun activities and earn the My Story is a Texas Story participation patch. This patch invites you to share personal stories and family memories, explore Texas history and Texan connections around the world, and find the TEXAN in you.

Scouts can choose from eight different activities to help with the different sections of the My Story is a Texas Story patch requirements.
  • One free Patch Book will be available to Scout Troop Leaders only. Additional Patch Books may be purchased for $5.00 at the ticket counter, or by mail.   • Patches are available for sale for $1.00 at the ticket counter.
  • Exhibit admission is free for Scouts only. Adults, Chaperones, and Troop Leaders will need to pay the normal exhibit admission of $7.00 to enter the exhibits. Admission stickers are available at the ticket counter.
If you brought your own lunches or snacks, you are invited to use the covered picnic area across from the Museum at the Stephen F. Austin State Building. Outside food or drink is not welcome in the Museum Cafe, thank you for your cooperation!

Where is the Museum?
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is located at 1800 N. Congress Avenue at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in downtown Austin, Texas.


Where should I park?

The underground Parking Garage entrance is located on the south side of the Museum West of 18th Street, just off North Congress Avenue.  There is a pre-pay charge of $8 at the garage.

Where can we eat lunch?
Lunch can be purchased in the Museum Cafe. You may not bring outside food or drink into the Cafe.  If you brought your lunch, you are more than welcome to eat at the covered picnic area across the street from the Museum at the Stephen F. Austin State Building.


Where do I buy tickets for the IMAX® Theatre and the Texas Spirit Theater?
Tickets may be purchased at the ticket counter, where you will also pick up exhibit admission stickers.
