Special Events Volunteer
Special Event Volunteers assist Museum staff with the many special events the Museum hosts. Volunteers help with events such as Temporary Exhibit openings, IMAX previews, member-only, education and social events.
Essential Functions
- Volunteers assist staff with the various tasks and activities related to the event.
- Volunteers provide exceptional customer service by providing thorough information regarding all aspects of the event and the Museum to visitors.
- Volunteers assist with crowd control.
- Volunteers ensure that all visitors entering the Exhibits have admission tags.
- Volunteers assist staff to ensure that the event runs smoothly and alert staff of any problems, concerns or other issues that may effect the function of the event.
Commitment
- Volunteers agree to volunteer for 5 events per year.
Training
- Orientation to the Volunteer program
- Meet with Museum staff 15-20 minutes before shift to receive assignment and
training for the duties involved.
Desirable Skills
- Volunteers must be able to communicate and interact with a diverse audience.
- Volunteers must possess strong customer service skills.
- Volunteers must have a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Previous experience as a volunteer working with the general public or in the retail field is preferred.
- Weekend and evening availability are preferred.
Note: May require prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Occasional events are held outside on the Museum Plaza.
