Wild Texas Weather Features Mother Nature at Her Worst
New virtual experience to take The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum by storm starting Oct. 26
AUSTIN, TX, October 7, 2009 – Feel the wrath of Mother Nature at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum’s latest attraction, Wild Texas Weather. A gale-force, immersive theater presentation, this movie is packed so tight with energy, audiences will be blown right out of their seats.
Featuring historic and modern footage, Wild Texas Weather takes the viewer on a 22-minute tumultuous journey through some of the planet’s most unpredictable —and downright wicked —weather conditions, including hurricanes, thunderstorms, droughts, and flash floods. Special effects add to the experience, simulating wind, rain, lightning, and fog, to literally rock the house as the audience rocks out to an original score by Austinite David Hamburger. The film is narrated by legendary Texas singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard and features additional performances by artists Omar Kent Dykes, Toni Price, and Carolyn Wonderland. Wild Texas Weather begins showtimes daily in the Texas Spirit Theatre on October 26, 2009.
Though it’s a whirlwind tale with fierce, awe-inspiring footage, the Museum really hopes viewers will walk away with a simple, important message to bring back home.
“We hope audiences leave with the idea that families should be prepared for all hazards that could affect their area,” says John Lewis, director of theaters and Wild Texas Weather director. “The Lower Colorado River Authority, Texas Floodplain Management Association, and the National Weather Service urge every Texan to develop a family disaster plan.”
Tickets for the Texas Spirit Theater are $5 for adults; $4 for seniors, military, students, and children under 18. Discounts are applied when purchasing Museum combination tickets. Tickets may be purchased at Museum Ticketing by calling (512) 936-4649 or by visiting TheStoryofTexas.com. The Wild Texas Weather CD soundtrack is also available for purchase in the Museum Store.
Wild Texas Weather is sponsored by LCRA and Texas Floodplain Management Association and co-produced with award-winning production company Arrowhead Films.
