Mary Maverick's Eyeglasses and Case
Glasses used by early recorder of Texas's history
Much of what we know about early Texas is thanks to the owner of these glasses.
Mary Adams Maverick kept detailed diaries and letters that are invaluable records of early Texas and life on the frontier. Her husband, Sam Maverick, was deeply involved in Texas politics, serving as mayor of San Antonio and as a delegate to the convention that declared Texas Independence. Mary's accounts of these major events provide both personal and historic insights to the formation of our great state.
