Architectural drawing of the Texas State Capitol
A new design for a stately Capitol dome
This hand-drawn exterior and interior elevation showing the finish and construction of the dome was made by the designing architect of the Texas Capitol, Elijah E. Myers (1832–1909).
Myers was fired from the project in 1886, two years before completion. The Texas Capitol was completed by Chicago architect Gustav Wilke in 1888 using Myers's original plans. Myers also designed state capitols in Michigan (1870s) and Colorado (1890s). The Texas Capitol represents the height of Myers's architectural career.
