FRANZ ICE STATION was opened in 1946 and owned and operated by my Grandfather, Charles L. Franz.
My granddad had a full Line Grocery Store with Curb Service. The store was well known as FRANZ ICE STATION, located on 1603 North Saint Mary's Street in San Antonio, Texas. This family-owned business was open for many years. The Store was in full operation for over 50 years.
I believe this store should be recognized as a Historical Place of business. It was permanently closed down in April of 2002. FRANZ ICE STATION is a LandMark of San Antonio Heritage and is also known as FRANZ ICE HOUSE.
Chet F. Franz is the grandson of Charles L. Franz and the operator of Franz Ice Station.
