Storm Over the Chisos
View of a storm over the Chisos Mountains, March 2015. I was staying at the Puerto Rico mine, five miles south of the Rio Grande, near Boquillas Canyon. I was doing research on the history of the mines and the tramway.

In 1910, a six mile cable began operating between Boquillas and Big Bend, hauling ore into Texas from the Puerto Rico mine and others five miles south of the river. This is the photo of an anchor station.

Did not make it to the pouroff this time because recent rains caused thick overgrowth on the trail and way afraid to lose my way, but took so many great pictures in this are because the rock here is fantastic with so many different colors.

Prickly pear cactus explode in blooms, but the flowers are unfortunately, short lived.
