EnlargeDagger Flats in Snow
December 2015, the park was blanketed in snow. I have been here twice in the snow and this was the most magical day I can remember.

Lower Cattail Canyon Chute
This is one of several pour-off waterfalls that drop through the lower portion of Cattail Canyon, less than a mile above Cattail Falls in Big Bend National Park. Water has churned through the rock in the canyon for thousands of years.

EnlargeCaballos de Mesa
Mother and foal on the Mesa de Anguila. Photo captured mid-morning looking south, into Mexico.
EnlargePerseids Over The Chisos
This is a compilation of meteors shot the night of the Perseids. There is no better place to stargaze, or photograph the stars than Big Bend, the darkest spot in the country.
EnlargeCouple in The Window
The iconic location, "The Window," in the heart of Big Bend National Park above the pour-off from Chisos Basin. I thefound this couple entranced with view, just as I was at 10 years of age, a half century before them.
