Ernst Tinaja
You can get to Ernst Tinaja from a short trail off of Old Ore Road. The natural hole has been a water source for generations. However, it can also be a death trap. The slick edges make it nearly impossible to get out.

Who's There?
Watching a yearling bear from a distance just off the trail, I tried to get some pictures but my camera malfunctioned and wouldn't focus. Instead I got a dreamy shot of the yearling wondering who I was.

Waking up at the top of the South Rim is one of my favorite places to be. The canyon wrens' echoing calls on the canyon walls are the natural music that I come to Big Bend to hear, away from the city.

As the sun rises over the Sierra del Carmens, the moisture from the night begins to burn off, allowing the sun to break through the clouds. Soon, the blue, cloudless sky with no break from the desert sun until dusk.
