Bullock Museum and The Daytripper's Chet Garner to host Texas whiskey event featuring Garrison Brothers Distillery

Event highlights Texas whiskey through a film screening, panel discussion and VIP tasting

OCTOBER 30, 2024 (AUSTIN, TX) — The Bullock Museum and The Daytripper’s Chet Garner will host an event celebrating Texas whiskey with Garrison Brothers Distillery at the Bullock on Friday, November 15. The event will feature a VIP tasting, screening of Cowboy Bourbon: The Full Proof Tale of Garrison Brothers and a panel discussion.

“Daytripper events with Chet Garner are becoming a new annual tradition at the Museum, and we hope to see everyone come out for the fun,” said Margaret Koch, Director at the Bullock Museum. “Texas has a unique and long-standing whiskey heritage that we’re excited to highlight this year.”

Daytripping Through Texas Whiskey begins at 5:30 p.m. with a sold-out VIP tasting featuring premium bourbon whiskeys from Garrison Brothers, paired hors d’oeuvres, and meet-and-greet time with Garner and Koch. General admission starts at 6 p.m. with light bites and a cash bar. The evening will continue with a presentation by Garner about the history of Texas whiskey and a screening of Cowboy Bourbon at 6:30 p.m. in the Texas Spirit Theater, followed by a panel discussion with Garner, Dan Garrison and Marsha Milam of Milam and Greene Whiskey in Blanco, TX.

Garrison founded Garrison Brothers Distillery in 2006, creating the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas at a time when bourbon could only be made in the state of Kentucky. Directed by Garner and Daniel Mecey, the film Cowboy Bourbon: The Full Proof Tale of Garrison Brothers explores the way this small distillery in the Texas Hill Country ignited a nationwide movement in craft distilling.

Chet Garner is a multiple-time Lone Star Emmy Award winner and host of the national PBS travel show The Daytripper. As host of The Daytripper, Garner takes viewers on one-day adventures throughout the Lone Star State to explore the food, culture and history of Texas towns. In the show, Garner spotlights well-known landmarks and obscure dives and hideaways throughout the state.

“Since the beginning, Texas has been blazing its own trail. And that includes in the world of whiskey,” said Garner. “Let’s sip some history together.”

Daytripping Through Texas Whiskey will take place at the Bullock Museum on Friday, November 15. Advance doors for VIP ticketholders open at 5:30 p.m. and general admission doors open at 6 p.m. The film begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $20 for Museum Members.
