Programs

July 26, 2015 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Texas artisans tell their stories through their work. The Museum Store will feature pottery, artwork, cookbooks, food products, and literature from local companies throughout the summer. On select days, hear from the artisans themselves as they demonstrate their products and discuss how their own Texas stories inspire their creations.

Visit the Museum Store for samples of Austin's own Lammes Candies.

Get to Know the Artisan

Lammes Candies officially opened in July 1885, and has been family owned and operated in Austin, Texas ever since. The company's current bestseller, the world famous "Texas Chewie Pecan Praline," was first produced by David Lamme, Sr., in 1892 after seven years of recipe tasting. The ingredients are still the same: pecans, corn syrup, sugar, mild butter, and salt. From the beginning, pecans from the trees along the Colorado River in Austin were used to produce the praline. Today, the fifth generation of Lammes still honors this tradition, using only Texas-grown pecans to continue legacy of world-famous confections.
