Learn the art of American Indian Beading by making a beaded necklace.

Event Details

Appreciate the beauty of Indigenous culture, learn the history of beadwork, and make beaded necklaces with fashion designer and Austin Powwow dancer, Nan Blassingame. All materials are provided for this drop-in program. The Teen Workshop series occurs alternating Thursdays throughout the summer for ages 13–18. Activities are included with Museum admission.

About Family Programs

Family programs provide educational and engaging activities for young Texans and their caregivers. Events are designed to bring families together, spark conversations and provide opportunities for growth and development.

About the Artist

Nan Blassingame is a citizen of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Nations. Through her Austin-based clothing brand, Blassingame creates powwow regalia as well as clothing inspired by her tribal identity.
