Evening for Educators: La Belle: The Ship That Changed History—Sneak Peek

Experience the Bullock Museum – the biggest classroom in Texas – through special tours, activities, and film screenings. Designed for teachers of all grade levels and subjects, this FREE event will introduce new exhibit-related curriculum guides and activities, professional development opportunities, and unique classroom resources. Plus, enjoy prize drawings, refreshments, the company of fellow teachers, and receive a certificate of participation, SBEC approved.


5:00pm - 8:00pm

Join us for a free event exclusively for teachers, and learn about the ill-fated 17th century French exploration ship, how it was discovered and raised in the 20th century, and will be rebuilt in front of your eyes at the Bullock Museum this year.

  • Get a sneak peek of the upcoming exhibit La Belle: The Ship That Changed History. Be the first to get a behind-the-scenes look at the artifacts and interactive educator resources that will be available with this exciting new exhibit.
  • 6:30 pm - Attend workshops with experts about how this story from the Age of Exploration altered Texas history forever, and how excavating the ship in the 20th century resulted in innovative technological advances.
  • 7:15 pm - Watch the new 4D film Shipwrecked, and experience the story of La Belle as seen through the eyes of a young French boy setting sail for North America in 1684.
