Enjoy FREE exhibit admission all day during Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibits that showcase artifacts from around the state. Special family programs from 12-3pm combine art creation, presentations by partner organizations, and gallery activities.
What role have Texans played in the conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries? This program will feature drop-in opportunities for veterans to share their stories of returning from combat and for visitors to learn more about the legacies of war.
12pm-3pm:
- View the Texas Vietnam Veterans Heroes exhibit.
- Discover the "Voices of Veterans" program of the Texas General Land Office and learn how you can share your story.
- Write a letter to an active duty service member or wounded warrior.
2pm:
- Listen to stories about Texas heroes at Storytime in the Museum's 2nd floor lobby.
- Hear from Texas veterans of various conflicts comparing their experience of readjusting to life back home in the Museum's Classrooms.
3:30pm:
- Explore Texas's role in the story of MEDEVAC at a screening and panel discussion of the documentary film When I Have Your Wounded featuring medics and pilots from Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan in conversation with the film's director.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors/military/students (with valid ID) and $9 for youths age 17 and under.
