POV Series: Art and Craft
Texas Spirit Theater
June 10, 2015 7:00pm - 8:30pm
The award-winning POV series presents an array of groundbreaking and distinctive perspectives on contemporary life as chronicled by some of America’s and Europe’s most visionary non-fiction filmmakers.
Mark Landis has been called one of the most prolific art forgers in US history. His impressive body of work spans thirty years, covering a wide range of painting styles and periods that includes 15th Century Icons, Picasso, and even Walt Disney. And while the copies could fetch impressive sums on the open market, Landis isn’t in it for money. A cat-and-mouse caper told with humor and compassion, Art and Craft uncovers the universal in one man’s search for connection and respect.
Official Selection of the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. Named a Top 5 Documentary by the National Board of Review. Produced in association with American Documentary | POV.
This screening is free and open to the public. This event is a collaboration with the award-winning documentary series POV (www.pbs.org/pov).
