Event Details

Take a mid-day break with our free High Noon Talks! Discover interesting, and often untold, stories of Texas at our casual lunchtime series.

Hear about the fascinating world of fungi including our official state mushroom, the hissing Texas Star Mushroom, with Angel Schatz from Central Texas Mycology. This rare and unique species, found only in Texas and Japan, is renowned for its distinctive star-shaped appearance and mysterious life cycle. Learn about community programs that are changing the conversation around fungi and its ecological importance in Texas ecosystems. Attendees will receive a mushroom grow block to take and upcycle in their own garden.

This program is FREE to the public.

About the Presenter

Formally an experience designer and animator in the tech world, Angel Schatz hopes to inspire more people to dial into the wood-wide-web. With a passion for understanding the ecosystem of central Texas and making mycology education accessible, she is a long-time urban gardener with a gift for harmonizing vegetable gardening and mushroom growing.
