About Texas Coffee Traders

At Texas Coffee Traders (TCT) the motto is, "think global and shop local," with ethics rooted in sustainability and community. They support a delicate balance in the environmental, social, and economic processes by prioritizing local businesses and fair/direct trade practices. This reduces their carbon footprint and helps keep small, local businesses stronger, further increasing the bonds of community. Texas Coffee Traders is proud to call Austin home since 1994. They give back to the community by supporting a variety of local events, charities, and programs. For every pound of Café Monteverde coffee sold at their shops in the United States, TCT sends a dollar back to the community in Monteverde to be used in social programs, environmental initiatives, or local projects. Sam Peyton, Education and Quality Control at TCT, is a longtime coffee professional who enjoys sharing the history of coffee and helping baristas improve their craft.

From Café Monteverde: On his first visit to Monteverde, Costa Rica in 1990, RC Beall, helped local coffee farmers roast, taste and better understand the quality of the coffee they grew. Since then, Café Monteverde have played an essential role in promoting and developing Fair Trade practices in Costa Rica, through highly-skilled training, purchasing green beans at above-market prices, and investing in infrastructure to improve coffee quality.
