Join us on a rock n’ roll writing tour led by the Austin Public Library's Badgerdog Creative Writing Program. Embark on a music-inspired scavenger hunt through the history and legacy of Texas Bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan. After completing the scavenger hunt, visit with a Baderdog guide who will help transform your findings into a rock classic. You'll leave today with an original song to perform to the crowds.
Join us as we discover the roots of one of America’s most iconic instruments. Compare and contrast different stringed instruments to see how the electric guitar was invented, and use familiar materials to build your own working diddley bow!
Discover the power of song in telling stories from various epochs in our nation's history. Join us for a drop-in workshop incorporating songs, instruments, and dance ideal for having fun and developing basic music skills.
A young mechanical engineer is building a wind turbine for the first time, but needs your help! Discover how wind turbines work by stepping into the Bullock’s collection with living history actors who will help us explore how Texas’ past helped the future of scientific research! Along the way, collect materials to make your own wind turbine.
Join us for a drop-in activity creating handmade memory journals! Then, interview a relative to discover stories and memories from their past.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
