Texas Artisan Feature: D.S. Iron Works

Programs

August 7, 2015 11:00am - 4:00pm

Texas artisans tell their stories through their work. The Museum Store will feature pottery, artwork, cookbooks, food products, and literature from local companies throughout the summer. On select days, hear from the artisans themselves as they demonstrate their products and discuss how their own Texas stories inspire their creations.

D.S. Iron Works will be featured in the Museum Store today.

Get to Know the Artisan

Wayne Rossi’s career as a Texas metal artisan was born out of a desire to create with his hands along with his interest in artistic sculpture. Each art piece is hand-cut with great care and attention to detail using an oxygen and acetylene cutting torch. He specializes in a variety of uniquely regional - Mountain, Native American and Cowboy - home & garden furnishings.

Rossi comes from a lineage of artists which include his paternal grandfather, an Italian immigrant who made a name for himself mixing inks and dyes for printmakers and painters, and his mother, an aspiring oil painter. Rossi paints as well, but with a torch as paintbrush and thick steel as canvas.
