Texas Artist Series: Philipp Meyer
Programs
February 19, 2015 7:00pm - 9:00pm
We've all heard of method acting, but method writing? Join Philipp Meyer, author of The Son, a finalist for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, in a conversation with Don Graham, professor of English at the University of Texas, about how in-depth research led to a captivating story of life along the Texas border. The Son follows one Texas family from life on the frontier in the 1800s through the oil boom of the 20th century, using three narrative voices to evoke a powerful sense of the thirst for power and wealth and the strong connection between people and their land.
This program is part of the Bullock Museum's Texas Art and Culture Series which is generously supported by Lone Star Beer—the National Beer of Texas. This program is presented in partnership with the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas, Austin.
