Watch the next generation of accordion players compete for three grand prizes in polka, Cajun, zydeco, and conjunto accordion traditions at Texas Folklife's 12th Annual Big Squeeze Accordion Contest Finals and Concert.
In addition to the competition, enjoy a free concert featuring Los Fresnos High School Conjunto Halcon from the Rio Grande Valley, Austin's Conjunto Los Pinkys, and accordion virtuoso and Grammy-nominated musician Alex Meixner!
The Big Squeeze Contest and Texas Folklife strive to represent the state's geographic and cultural diversity. Since 2007, hundreds of young musicians from more than 32 Texas towns and cities have participated. Past and current contestants represent communities across the state, including the Rio Grande Valley, Houston and Beaumont-area, Greater Dallas Area, San Antonio, Lubbock, the Permian Basin and more!
The Bullock Museum is owned and operated by the State of Texas through the State Preservation Board. Additional support of exhibitions and programs is provided by the Texas State History Museum Foundation.
