Paula Chamlee

High Plains Farm

Print Page

Photographer Paula Chamlee presented a visually stunning and emotionally powerful focus on the Texas farm, revealing a way of life that is quickly vanishing.

The photographs in this exhibition were taken on the Texas Panhandle High Plains wheat farm where Paula Chamlee grew up. The images presented a portrait of the habits, ethics, and value system that embody the spirit and struggles of an older generation of Panhandle farmers and ranchers. Her parent’s farm, typical of the dwindling number of family farms in the Panhandle, became the focal point for a larger portrait of rural American life.
