Revealing Character

Robb Kendrick's Texas Tintypes

Print Page

Tintypes of Lone Star cowboys and cowgirls document the honesty, humor, and determination that were crucial on the range and remain characteristic of Texas.

Texas still boasts a number of working cowboys and cowgirls on its modern-day ranches. Since 2004, Texas-born photographer Robb Kendrick has been capturing images of these cow folk through a 19th-century photographic process known as a tintype. This exhibition featured 66 tintype images and 12 enlarged tintype prints of cowboys and cowgirls from across the state.
