Texas Flags
1836 - 1945
Print Page
In addition to the six flags of Texas, countless other banners have served the Lone Star State, flying over forts, accompanying men into battle and symbolizing significant passages in history.
This exhibition, first presented at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in 2002, explored the history, symbolism, and events behind 30 rare banners, including flags from the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, the Civil War, the Buffalo Soldiers, Texas battalions that fought in World War II, and more.
Support for the Bullock Museum's exhibitions and education programs provided by the Texas State History Museum Foundation.
