Experience the traditional textiles, art, dance and culture of each Mexican state with free admission and fun family activities connected to Hilos de Tradición: Dresses of Mexico.
Event Details
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through performances and hands-on activities. FREE admission will provide access to all Museum galleries including the Hilos de Tradición exhibition now on view. Enjoy ballet folklorico or drop-in for activities designed for the whole family to enjoy from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Special family programs combine art creation, performance, and in-gallery discovery.
Activities
- 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - Dia de los Muertos story time, crafts, songs, and shadow puppets with the Austin Public Library
- 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - Austin High School Ballet Folklorico performance followed by dance lessons for families
- Create original paper dolls and try embroidery stitches that reflect the designs in the exhibition
Family programs provide educational and engaging activities for young Texans and their caregivers. Events are designed to bring families together, spark conversations and provide opportunities for growth and development.
