Explore the world of trains at the Bullock Museum.
Event Details
Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during H-E-B Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase and tell the history of artifacts from around the state.
Hear train whistles blow and axles grind as Tinplate Trackers of Austin's miniature locomotives chug along tiny rails set in intricate scenes. Children will be mesmerized by miniature-sized model train engines whirling around tracks laid out in the Museum’s lobby. Adults may channel their inner engineers as they talk with model train enthusiasts and view elaborate model railroad scenes, including detailed cities and towns, rural landscapes, and a mini carnival.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the whole family can enjoy a Texas-sized model train display and demonstration.
At 11 a.m., climb aboard the IMAX® theater for the biggest adventure on wheels and watch Train Time on a screen the size of Texas. Buy your IMAX documentary tickets here or at the Museum ticketing counter.
Family programs provide educational and engaging activities for young Texans and their caregivers. Events are designed to bring families together, spark conversations and provide opportunities for growth and development.
